Hi y'all, We noticed that a lot of people on campus seem to be confused about which artists exactly the cover bands are...well, covering. We wanted to bridge that gap and give them a chance to introduce themselves!

What do you like about this artist?

The Ducklings // “Murder ballad, baby! Also it’s just fun and silly and poppy and bluegrass country 90s litness!! I think the best cover band performances are the fun ones, and I hope people will be dancing when we perform!”

Ba-Jorks // “Bjork is a genius whose music is so authentically her own. She’s redefined herself throughout her entire career and has been able to stay so raw and truthful in her music no matter the genre she takes on.”

Lightningdog // “He is one of the many bridges between the world of popular music and the improvisational tradition of jazz, reminding us that these worlds are more connected than we often realize.”

Boob 52’s // “They are so strange and weird, their songs are silly, but omygod their voices? Angelic. The harmonies are floaty and gorgeous, and then Fred's weird voice comes piercing through and it somehow still works. If any other band tried to make Rock Lobster, it would be stupid and cringey. When the B-52's performed it on SNL, the world was changed.”

What makes Cover Band Showcase so cool/fun/or maybe terrible?

The Ducklings // “It’s great when the audience knows the songs and gets to sing along and dance. In my opinion the best dancing at parties always happens when you know the lyrics!”

Ba-Jorks // “It’s really fun to see your friends perform songs that they normally wouldn’t get to perform. It’s also awesome to see people’s different interpretations of music we all know.”

Lightningdog // “It's a great outlet for students to show their appreciation for artists that don't get talked about much in music curricula.”

Boob 52’s // “Cover Band Showcase is one of the most fun events on campus in our opinion. So many students here are insanely talented and musically inclined, but don't have many opportunities to perform. Some of us are having their first band experience ever here, and felt confident to make that step because of how supportive and fun the Cover Band audiences have been. One of us has friends who are related to the band members and loves how silly and fun they are and appreciate that we have a space to be silly and fun to so people can jam to some funky tunes. People just want to dance, and if there is any place to do that, it's Cover Band Showcase.”

what do the people need to know??

The Ducklings // “That you MUST come and you WILL HAVE THE BEST TIME EVER and that cover band is the best event on campus every single semester!!!!!!!!!”

Ba-Jorks // “The Ba-Jorks will BE Bjork this Saturday. And we can’t wait for everyone to see :)”

Lightningdog // “We're really excited to play for everyone!”

Boob 52’s // “We are the coolest looking band on campus and we are sorry we cannot take more than 15 minutes because we know the world deserves our cover of Rock Lobster. Please forgive us and instead be upset at the concept of time constraints themselves.”
